Welcome to Create +8!
We are graduate students enrolled at San Jose State University School of Library and Information Science. We have put together a short project for you to explore, learn from and have fun with. Our project is based on a program called 23 Things which was created by Helene Blowers. We’re going to do a mini version tailored to you and Crandall Public Library.
Along with you, there are 8 students working together on this project. We are part of a class taught by Professor Michael Stephens designed to give us real world experience in teaching and using Library 2.0 tools. That makes all of us participants in a cutting edge program. Read here for a full explanation of what we are doing.
The way we have structured the project is that this first week we want you to get familiar with our website and then set up your own blog. Then, in the following weeks, we will have two Things for you to learn about each week, for a total of 8+. You will have the option to choose one or do both, depending on how much time you have and what you are interested in. We, of course, hope you will want to try all of it.
There are 8 of us, with 8 pairs of you, learning 8+ things together for 8 weeks! Create +8!
We have built in some catch up weeks, so don’t worry if you aren’t able get through all that you hope to. There is lots to explore and lots of time to do so.
Here is the schedule:
Week one: Blogging
Week two: iPads and/or eReaders
Week three: Screencasting and/or Vlogging
Week four: Catch up and/or More to Explore
Week five: Pinterest and/or GoodReads
Week six: Surveys and/or Marketing the Library
Week seven: Catch up and/or More to Explore
